Sign Up Now: The One and Only Stumble Bumble

ALL Orienteers - Including Beginners - Sign Up Now! From beginners to advanced orienteers, everyone is welcome at this coming Saturday's Stumble Bumble event, held at Greenbelt National Park.

But due to park restrictions, signing up (and paying) in advance is required for this meet. There will be "classic" white and yellow courses for beginners, and an orange course for intermediate orienteers. For these courses (not the Stumble), start anytime between 11 - 1:30, finish no later than 3.

MTB Map Boards

Good map boards are very useful to adventure racers, MTB orienteers, and even riders on long excursions in the backcountry. The board used by the US Mountain Bike Orienteering Team is now available for sale through Orienteering USA's website. Have Leave To Donate?

Federal Employees - A Leave Donation program has been approved to help QOC member Scott Pleban and his family. As many of you know, Scott remains severely incapacitated as a result of a car/bike accident earlier this year. Through the Leave Donation program, any federal employee may donate unused leave to Scott.

To be able to donate leave, all you have to do is:

  1. Be a federal government employee
  2. Complete a Leave Donation form: Form 630A for Navy employees, or…

Storm Cancels Patuxent

Due to the winter storm predictions, the park manager at Patuxent River Park has asked us to cancel the orienteering event we were planning to hold there Sunday Dec. 8. We will be rescheduling this event, most likely to a date in early Spring.

In Memoriam: Tim Good

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Tim Good, 53, longtime Quantico Orienteering Club member and co-founder of Brown [University] O Club passed away September 21, 2013 after battling an aggressive cancer. Brother of longtime QOC members, Ted and Keg Good, Tim was a regular at local orienteering meets and at numerous national meets including the Highlander, the Billygoat, and the Susquehanna Stumble.

Tim came to orienteering as a nationally ranked youth racewalker and distance runner. In high school in the late 1970's, he was Maryland state track champion in the indoor 2 mile.…
