In Memoriam: Tim Good

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Tim Good, 53, longtime Quantico Orienteering Club member and co-founder of Brown [University] O Club passed away September 21, 2013 after battling an aggressive cancer. Brother of longtime QOC members, Ted and Keg Good, Tim was a regular at local orienteering meets and at numerous national meets including the Highlander, the Billygoat, and the Susquehanna Stumble.

Ryan Stasiowski Wins PRT10K

QOC member Ryan Stasiowski shaved over two minutes off the previous course record at the Patuxent River Trail 10K race held March 2, finishing in 37:20. First female was Emily Ferguson, a three-peat runner at this race, who with a time of 45:13 set a PR. Full results posted here.

Valerie Meyer wins Silva Award

Congratulations to QOC member/e-punch guru, Valerie Meyer, for winning the 2012 Silva Award, Orienteering USA's annual award given to one individual in recognition of their outstanding contribution to orienteering nationally. If you want to get the merest hint of how much she has done on the national stage over the years in addition to all she does just for QOC printing maps and supporting our use of e-punching, take a look here.

MTBO World Championships underway

OUSA has, for the first time, sent a team of three women to the MTBO World Championships this year. The competition began on August 20th with the long distance qualification, in which one member of the US team qualified for the final. Sprint and middle distance qualification and the finals are still to come. You can follow the action at the competition web site and the US team specifically at the US team blog.
