The Mountain Bike Orienteering Long and Short Courses that were held in the morning drew a total of 22 starts and 14 starts respectively. Congratulations to Tom Wells who came in first on the short course with a time of 63.14 minutes, despite breaking a chain and having to start the course over again. The long course competition was won by Christopher Gross with a time of 72.44.

The Classic orienteering, which started immediately after the MTB-O, had a total of 128 starts, with 161 participants. Special thanks to Mark and Patti Mace for designing and setting the controls for both events.

For the intrepid few who took on and completed the orienteering duathlon challenge, we can report the following results:

  • Thanks also to all of the volunteers who helped to make the day a success. An extra special shout-out goes to Amy Louden, who showed up at 7:30 am to help with the MTB-O and then stayed to help with the Classic event. After completing a course Amy helped with the e-punch downloading and the control pickup at the end of the day. Thanks to Dwight Johnson, Lisa Beck and Mike Newman for helping with registration and various other tasks. Ted Good for doing beginner instruction. Jon Torrance and Dan Tam Do for handling the morning e-punch operation and Valerie Meyer the afternoon e-punch operations, with special assistance from Eddie Bergeron. Thanks to Joseph Landers and Zach Walunas for manning the grills and cooking hot dogs for the hungry competitors all afternoon - Great job guys!! Lastly, thanks to Ted Good, Amy Louden, Dave Linthicum, Eddie Bergeron for doing the control pickup at the end of a very long day.
