It was a great day of orienteering. Our thanks to the managers at Patapsco Valley State Park for cooperating with the Club and allowing us to stage a limited event at what is a very popular State Park. Our apologies to the intrepid participants and club members who attended the event and ended up having to park a mile away from the registration area. For all of the uncertainty and inconvenience we had a 98% turnout of registrants.
First, thanks to Glenn Pastel for designing and setting a full complement of courses. Glenn said that credit for setting controls is also due to Addie Nolan and Tom Nolan. Many runners said how much they enjoyed the courses and found them challenging. We would like to thank John Paul Landers and Jessica Lopes for helping out with the registration at the event. We are also indebted to Amy Louden and Valeria Myer for running the epunch operation. Thanks also to Valerie for printing the maps and clue sheets and to Amy for providing the fresh baked cookies.
We are very grateful for the folks who stuck around and helped to pick-up the controls at the end of the day, when it began to rain steadily. Thanks to David & Reiko Rager, Dasa Merkova and Alexis Merka, John Baker, and Jon Torrance. Special thanks to Jon Torrance for assisting Cecilia back to the Cascade Falls parking area after control pick up. Thanks to Craig Shelden and Amy for standing by and waiting a bit longer than usual for all members of the pick-up crew to return safely.
