Scare-O Event Notes: Our night orienteering event includes a beginner Scare-O. The Scare-O course is 2.4km in length, with several ways to finish sooner if the course is too long for younger children. Glow sticks mark the path, and all participants must follow this path from start to finish. If participants veer off the glow stick path they will miss out on the Halloween fun. You will have a map to keep track of where you are but it is not required. There will be several people (adults and children) on the course ready to make this event a fun and scary time for all the participants - without any gory scenes. Children may do the course alone or in a group. We recommend children under 10 be accompanied by a parent.
Other courses: the woods are as fast and open as ever and the terrain hasn't changed greatly since 2014 - some of the rootstocks have shrunk slightly though none so much as to compel their removal from the map, some new ones have popped up and were added to the map if encountered while vetting the courses. Keep in mind that ditches may be shallower and knolls, rockpiles, boulders and cliffs lower than would be insisted on in some parts of the world. Courses and controls are fewer for the night-O than they will be during the day; nevertheless, some controls are close enough to each other that checking codes might save you from a mispunch. |
