Patapsco Valley State Park, MD

It was a challenging day for orienteers who braved the blowing cold rain, mud and rising water throughout the Patapsco park. In spite of such weather conditions, we still had 70 start entries on challenging courses designed by Ted Good. We have even welcomed several groups who decided to try orinteering for the first time and the Costello family who joined our club.

Thank you to all the volunteers who made this meet run smoothly in spite of the weather. To our surprise, the control pick and final packing was done during a heavy snow fall and pretty much everybody agreed that we won't complain for a while about hot days once they actually come.

Without the volunteers the meet would not happen: Iva Zicha, Kathrin Herbeholz, Florance Tan and Jinny Szabo processed the registration while Alexis Merka handed out maps; John Baker and John Landers helped us with packing and meanwhile the controls were picked up by Tom Nolan, Ted Good, Alexis Merka, Mihai Sirbu, Jon Torrance, David Levine and Jan Merka. Valerie Meyer and Shirley Tan ruled the computers and the epunch table.

We are affraid that while trying to hang on the canopies and maps some names of helpers may have been missed but we definitely appreciate any helping hand, especially on a day like yesterday.
