So, the third date was a charm, and the Blossom Bumble was a grand success!

The first male Mass Starter to cross the finish line was Don Fish on Beige with a time of 61:33. The first female, defending her 2025 title, was Peggy Dickison on Brown with a time of 68:24. Wyatt Riley (DVOA) claimed top honors on Blue finishing with a time of 116:46 and completing his windows in the exact order that the course designer felt was the optimal route: Window #1 ECABD / #3 LKMON / #5 VXYWU / #4 TSRPQ / #2 GFIJH. The first female on Red was Diana Aleksieva, squeezing by her dad Vido, with a time of 139:37.

The speedsters who picked up the time bonuses are: Ulf Kallhauge, Window #1, control D = BUMBLE | Justin Rathkamp, Window #2, control I = BLOSSOMS | Howie Weinstein, Window #3, control M = ARE | David Reiger, Window #4, control S = VERY | Jared Silk, Window #5, control U = BEAUTIFUL.

The Bumble – and ALL QOC events – would not be possible without the hard work of many dedicated individuals. Below are the awesome folks who helped ensure the event went smoothly. A million “thank yous” to you all.

PRE-EVENT SUPPORT:

• As VA VPs, Dennis Doherty and Aaron Linville provided great support to secure the park permit (3 different dates!),coordinate with park officials, and ensure that we had all the equipment needed for the day.
• Craig Shelden provided his wonderful volunteer recruiting tool and helped get the maps prepped for printing.
• Greg Lennon updated the website, set up a somewhat more complicated pre-registration form, and sent emails, refunds and notifications to club members (multiple times!)
• Kathleen Lennon spread the word about the event via social media and uploaded photos for everyone to enjoy.
• Valerie Meyer printed and bagged the maps (and more listed below!)

DAY OF VOLUNTEERS:

• Valerie Meyer and Aaron Linville got the e-punching set up and tag-teamed to run the smooth timing of the event. Staying for the full day, they also packed up all the equipment and helped clean up.
• Helping set up everything from registration to signage to 13 years of Bumble maps were Neal Attfield, Helen Doherty, Harry Jones, and Gary Smith.
• Harry and Gary did a wonderful job managing registration for the first shift. Iliana, Emi, and Krissi Lundblad took the second shift and also assisted with download and clean up.
• Shawn Williams and Mayra Monge did a fabulous job making sure everyone found a parking space.
• Helen Doherty and Boryana Peeva provided instruction for beginners to ensure they had a great time on their course.
• Diana Aleksieva, David Doherty, Carl Lundgren, John Organek, Jon Torrance, Howie Weinstein, and Shanna Sorrells wrapped up the event by picking up controls (with stands!) And Sam Listwak worked with these great folks to make sure the flags and e-boxes were accounted for and neatly packed up.
