The day started off pretty dreary, wet and cold, and I was afraid the only persons who would show up were the volunteers and my family members. The rain stopped after lunch around 1pm. My fears were unfounded; there were 95 starts and 16 additional people who came to the meet.

Special shoutout: Troop 422 boy scouts came out in full force with 3 adult scout masters/volunteers, all were prepared for the wet. It was great to see young people orienteering.

At the end of the day, we had a little bit of fun with Special Pi Day celebrations. Gary Smith trotted up with a special Pi Day T-Shirt and I posted his picture on Facebook. Dasa Merkova brought a lovely Cherry Pie and we posed with the pie and took pictures and all ate the pie in celebration.

We borrowed a total of 5 tents -- thank you, Tom, for running around the day before to borrow the tents from Val and Heidi/Dave and thank you, to the Lennons for stopping by my house with the big QOC tent, and thank you, Ted Good for bringing his tent. The tents allowed pre and post race socializing and kept us all dry. The volunteers were great -- we set up the tents and quickly put up the e-punch hardware, registration area, and food/drink.

People trickled in slowly through out the day and the parking lot was never full. At the end of the day, after we took down the tents and cleaned up, some of the group repaired to a near by watering hole (Jose's Grill), where other participants had gone earlier as well, and a good convivial time was had by all.
