QOC Needs You!QOC is traveling north to the Rodney Scout Reservation near North East, Maryland, to compete for the coveted Broken Compass Award in the Mid-Atlantic Championships, an annual event between QOC, DVOA, and other clubs on the East Coast. The event includes a full array of regular courses and a relay race. This year, DVOA is hosting.

Ride The QOC Bus! For the first time since the onset of the pandemic, we will charter a large bus, complete with WiFi, reclining seats, and a restroom. This is a fun and relaxing way to get to the event, and we invite you to reserve your seat before 5pm on Saturday, Dec. 2nd, via this link. The cost is $15 for current QOC members (use promo code 'qoc-member') or $20 for non-members. Please make sure to register each person in your party.

The bus will pick up Virginia riders at the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU metro station at 7:30am. It will make subsequent stops at Grosvenor/Strathmore metro station (8:00am), Forest Glen metro station (8:30am), and a final stop at the Southwest Park and Ride in Catonsville near Glen Artney (9:15am) before heading on to the Rodney Scout Reservation, arriving around 10:30 AM.

After the event concludes, the bus will leave the venue at 3:30pm, make a short stop at a Wawa or Royal Farms in North East for snacks and beverages, and then head to each DC area stop (in reverse order).

Mid-Atlantic Championships
The Mid-Atlantic Championships is an annual event that rotates between QOC and DVOA. Everyone, including QOC members, non-members, and JROTC groups, is welcome to participate in this event. You can competitively vie for Mid-Atlantic Individual and Relay champion titles or simply head out for a fun time in the woods. There are options here for everybody.

The morning will feature individual classic-length courses. In the afternoon, there will be a three-leg relay. The relays are a lot of fun and a great chance to build camaraderie with your fellow club members. Maps for both events will be distributed at the start. Unlike some local events, you cannot study the map until after punching the start.

Clubs will earn points based on attendance and performance in the classic race and the relay. Everyone is encouraged to participate - you can only help, not hurt, your club by running in races and earning points for your attendance and finish. Full scoring details are available in this PDF.
