Red Bean RunWheaton in WinterWelcome to the Red Bean Run, QOC's last 2011 event, taking place in Wheaton Regional Park on Saturday, Dec. 17. You'll have to come to the event to find out why it's named this!

We will be meeting (indoors) at the Train Station room on the west side of Wheaton park (directions below), and the event will feature beginner (White, Yellow), intermediate (Orange) and advanced (Brown, Green, Red) orienteering courses designed by Dan Quinn. Registration will be from 10:45am to 1:15pm. Everyone must be out of the woods and back at the registration/finish area by 3:00pm, which is when we will begin picking up the controls. Dogs on leash are welcome, and Wheaton also has a half-acre fenced-in 'Dog Park', located on the other side of the park.

Any youth or large groups attending, please contact the Event Director so that we can coordinate pre-registration for your group; the group registration and waiver form is part of the information on our Group Leaders page.

Meet Director Clinic Meet Directors Clinic: Take your volunteerism to the next level - by finding out what' s involved in being the Meet Director for one of our local events. Now is your chance! Heidi Onkst will host a meet directors clinic from 11:00am to 12:00pm in the Train Station Party Room.

Being a Meet Director is a great experience and a wonderful way to support QOC and your fellow club members. Heidi will cover everything from the basics to the specifics. And, you’ll receive our updated manual (short and easy to follow) to take with you. This will also be a great refresher for our veteran MDs as well. So come join the fun before heading into the Wheaton woods for a great day of orienteering.

Please RSVP to Heidi by Friday, December 16. (If you are interested in learning more but can’t attend, please let Heidi know and we’ll find a time to hold another clinic soon.)
