For the first time in many years, there is a competitive election for the candidates vying to be elected to the USOF Board of Directors. There are currently five open seats on the twelve member board, and there are nine declared candidates running for the five open seats. The QOC Board sees this as a positive development that potentially bodes well for both the organization and the sport as a whole.
The QOC Board takes its responsibility to look out for the interests of the club and its members very seriously. The QOC Board has reviewed the biographical information and personal platform statements put forth by each of the 9 candidates and engaged in a lively, thoughtful and democratic process to select the best five candidates to participate in leading the organization into the future. After much discussion and, at times, very passionate debate, the QOC Board has voted to endorse and support the following candidates (listed in alphabetical order) for the five open USOF Board seats:
- Clare Durand
- Donna Fluegel
- Boris Granovskiy
- Alex Jospe
- Gavin Wyatt-Mair
The prevailing sentiment within the QOC Board was that this blend of experienced leaders with solid records of service, together with a select group of new, enthusiastic nominees will best serve the interests of USOF, its members and its affiliated clubs looking to the future of both the organization and the sport. This year, based on the number of USOF members who have designated Quantico as their primary club, QOC is entitled to cast up to 99 votes for each of the five open seats on the USOF Board of Directors. USOF members also may opt to attend the AGM in person and vote for themselves, as spelled out in the USOF By-laws. The number of votes cast by QOC as a club is reduced by the count of those QOC members personally attending the meeting who register to vote on their own. Please contact me on or before Sept 14th if you are an OUSA (& QOC) member planning to attend the AGM and vote in person, because there are special procedures that must be followed.
