Orienteering

Orienteering races are off-trail running individual (or group) time-trials where competitors choose their own routes between a series of mandatory checkpoints. Each participant receives a highly detailed map displaying the checkpoint locations as well as valuable information affecting running speed, visibility, footing, and route choice (e.g. thickness of vegetation, trail locations, and slope/grade). For experienced competitors, the challenge is to maintain the mental focus required to cleanly execute planned routes while pushing hard physically. Beginners, kids, and hikers love the "treasure hunt" feel of orienteering, where simply completing each new course brings its own sense of achievement. The public is not just welcome, but encouraged to come and try one of our events, all while exploring some of the area's most scenic parks and natural areas.
