Have you ever wanted to learn American Sign Language (ASL)?
Many QOC members have expressed an interest in learning ASL, and this is a great opportunity to get started while also helping make our orienteering community more connected and inclusive. We have a number of fellow orienteers who use ASL and would love to be able to socialize with more club members.
With that said, QOC member Shanna is offering a 10-week Beginner ASL Zoom classes.
Shanna is Deaf and brings more than 15 years of teaching experience, certifications in ASL instruction in three states, a BA in Education, and an MA in Theatre Education. She combines her teaching and theatre background to make learning engaging, inclusive, and accessible to different learning styles.
Her classes follow best practices in language immersion and use a voice-off approach, helping students learn through visual communication and build their ASL skills naturally.
Whether youβre brand-new to ASL or looking to build a foundation, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn from an experienced teacher!
